I am about 95% sure that it was possible to set different durations for items in a playslist.
With both 7.10 and 8 it seems that there is only one setting for all items. Has this feature vanished completely or has it been moved to some menu that I am not aware of? IIRC this setting was accessible by right-clicking a playlist item.

It’s still there, for MC 8 you can click on 3 dots menu for playlist item and select “This Item Duration” to change duration for this particular playlist item:

I was looking at the right hand menu under “Layer settings”, and there I only get the options to crop or delete an item, hence my confusion!
