Yesterday I had Desktop: area under cursor, and it had the large red rectangle as usual, but there was an extra little white rectangle within the red rectangle. It was really helpful.
I can’t for the life of me make that happen again. Any tips?

The “rectangle-within-rectangle” function allowed me to LEAVE the rectangle on window #1, while going to another window (without showing the window #2 view)
I figured it out! After like 6 hours.
